The Kingdom of Commagene was the most northern
district of Syria, to the west of the Euphrates in what is now southern Turkey. Commagene became a Roman province under Tiberius, but in 38 AD, Caligula restored Antiochus IV to the throne. It seems that Caligula deposed him again and then on Claudius' accession, was re-restored in 41 AD. The kingdom was finally destroyed by Rome (Vespasian) in 72 AD for being too friendly with the Parthians.r e f e r e n c e s
